The St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office released the identity of an eight-year-old child who was killed in a crash in Bush.
According to Louisiana State Police, Tuesday morning, Jewel Leger, 8, of Covington, was a passenger in a car on LA Hwy 40, just east of Hurd Road.
Initial investigation showed that the car was traveling west on LA Hwy 40 while approaching a left-hand curve.
For reasons still under investigation, the car traveled off the road to the right and hit a tree.
According to LSP, Leger was sitting in the front passenger seat and was not wearing a seatbelt.
Leger sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
This is an ongoing investigation.
