New Orleans police are investigating a robbery at a bank in Mid-City.
According to NOPD, the incident happened just after 9:30 Tuesday morning at the branch near Carrollton and Canal streets.
The suspect gave the teller a note, demanding money and then left with it.
“That wasn’t what I was expecting today, like, that’s so crazy,” said Katherine Mulholland.
Capital One customers were in complete shock after police said a woman used nothing more than a note to rob a bank.
“I guess people err on the safe side, you know,” said Capital One customer Floyd DeGrange.
The suspect is described as a woman with “gold” hair, wearing black glasses, a black shirt and black and white striped pants.
Video from inside the bank shows the aftermath, where customers were forced to sit and wait as police investigated.
“Something like this happening in broad daylight makes you think anybody can rob you,” said Joseph.
Dozens of customers who showed up at the location were turned around, with many confused and others inconvenienced.
“I come over here to deposit some money, and I can’t do it,” said DeGrange.
“People coming pull on the doors; it’s very concerning. I’m trying to conduct my business now, I have to go to another location,” said Capital One customer Donnell Carroll.
Police did not say how much the suspect was able to get, but confirmed no weapons were displayed or mentioned.
According to NOPD, she fled on foot in an unknown direction.
