The New Orleans Saints tied the Jacksonville Jaguars 17-17 in the second preseason game for both teams.
The Black & Gold struggled on both sides of the ball, getting gashed defensively by Trevor Lawrence and the Jags offense.
As for young Saints quarterbacks, Tyler Shough and Spencer Rattler, both were average at best.
Shough started the game, finishing 9-12 for 66 yards. He was also sacked twice and called for an intentional grounding penalty.
The rookie out of the University of Louisville had the chance to secure the starting QB position, but his underwhelming performance didn’t inspire anyone.
Rattler was clearly the better player Sunday, finishing 18-24 for 199 yards with 1 touchdown and 1 interception. He also scrambled for a 2-points conversation to tie the game and finished with 19 yards rushing.
The Saints are 0-1-1 in the preseason and close exhibition play next Saturday in the Superdome against the Denver Broncos.
