In the wake of the Texas tragedy, leaders at Camp Abbey are monitoring rain from a tropical system moving over Louisiana this week, but camp leaders do not anticipate closing camp early.
Camp Abbey leaders sent messages to parents with children in their camp ahead of the rain expected for the remainder of the week.
Leaders said they have a great plan for fun on rainy days and always plan to ensure the safety of campers and staff.
They have maintained an emergency plan related to the Bogue Falaya River, with automatic text updates if the river height begins to rise.
They also have agreements in place with local schools to use buses to evacuate if necessary.
