The rainfall totals have come down a bit for sections of southeast Louisiana. Some locally higher totals will still be possible though.
The National Hurricane Center (NHC) has been monitoring an area of low pressure, now identified as Invest 93-L. It now has a 30% or low chance of development.
This disturbance has been moving through the Northern Gulf and is now due east of Southeast Louisiana.
The latest data continue to show a trend continuing its course due west… just hugging the coastline.
Conditions are favorable for tropical development but this system remain disorganized and most likely won’t be over water long enough to become a tropical cyclone. However, there’s still a plume of tropical humidity surrounding the disturbance that can still bring bouts of torrential, tropically driven rain and thunderstorms.
WHAT WE KNOW:
Chance of development over the next 2 days: Low 30%
Chance of development over the next 3-7 days: Low 30%
IMPACTS TO SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA:
Louisiana is likely to receive heavy rainfall starting Wednesday evening, and continuing through Thursday, Friday, and possibly into Saturday regardless of tropical development.
