Lawmakers in Baton Rouge worked up until the last minute during Louisiana’s final hours of the regular legislative session.
Final items included important legislation such as teacher pay raises and tax reform.
The main focus of the day was pharmacy legislation, but lawmakers from both sides of the aisle agree that insurance reform has been a major issue throughout the session.
They have also addressed bills related to other medical items and immigration.
“It’s been a long two months. Insurance was a huge focus, we dealt with tax provisions, local funding, and obviously last night the big debate over the PBM issue, dealing with the CVS text messages that came out,” said Matt Willard, a Democrat from New Orleans.
“I think we focused on important issues, none more important than insurance reform,” said Bryan Fontenot, a Republican from Thibodaux.
The governor’s team has confirmed that he will not hold his usual news conference when the session officially concludes but will instead issue a video statement.
