Fall-Like Weather Settles In as Drought and Burn Bans Expand
Louisiana will enjoy a stretch of sunshine, cooler nights and fall-like weather over the next week!
Drier air will allow temperatures to cool more efficiently overnight. Lows across the Northshore are expected to fall into the upper 40s and lower 50s, while the Southshore could see temperatures in the 50s to lower 60s during the next few days.
Clouds may begin returning as early as Sunday, but no measurable rainfall is expected over the next seven days.
The dry forecast comes as drought conditions worsen in parts of southeastern Louisiana. Portions of Tangipahoa and Washington parishes have been upgraded to moderate-to-severe drought in the latest U.S. Drought Monitor.
More than half of Louisiana’s parishes have issued burn bans prohibiting most outdoor burning. St. Tammany Parish is now among those under a burn ban.
Residents should follow local restrictions and use extra caution outdoors as dry vegetation increases the risk of fires.
Watching Halloween Weekend
We’re also keeping an eye on Halloween weekend across Louisiana and the Deep South. Model guidance is beginning to signal a stormier pattern in about 10 days, from Oct. 31 through Nov. 2.
Halloween is still nine days away, so the details remain very uncertain. However, the overall trend points toward a more active weather pattern from late October into the first week of November. It’s something to watch as the forecast signal becomes clearer.
Until then, let’s enjoy the gorgeous weather this weekend!
