Sunny skies and warm afternoons stick around, but you may want a light jacket at night.
Highs Thursday will reach 79 to 85 degrees across southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi. The air stays dry, with no rain expected.
Another cool night
Clear skies will help temperatures drop overnight. Northshore lows will fall to 47 to 52 degrees, while the Southshore will cool to 54 to 60.
Friday brings more sunshine, with highs of 79 to 84 degrees.
Dry weather continues this weekend
High pressure keeps rain away through the weekend. Expect warm afternoons and cooler nights, with slightly cooler daytime temperatures by Sunday.
East to northeast winds will pick up this weekend, especially near the coast and over the lakes. Outdoor plans look mostly sunny and dry, but it will turn breezy.
Be careful with fire
The lack of rain is drying out grass and other plants. Low afternoon humidity adds to the concern, making it easier for a spark to start a fire.
Stronger winds this weekend could help fires spread where the air and vegetation are driest. Avoid outdoor burning and follow all local burn bans.
Little to no rain is expected through early next week, so meaningful relief from the dry conditions is not in sight.
What about Josephine?
Subtropical Storm Josephine is moving away from the United States over the Atlantic. It poses no direct threat to Louisiana.
Our local forecast remains focused on sunshine, cool nights and fire concerns.
