A second person has been arrested in connection with a boat theft in Larose.
Travis Sanchez, 44, of Lockport, was arrested Sunday for his involvement in the theft.
Sanchez was identified as having assisted Francis Fonseca Jr., 39, who was arrested on Thursday.
Deputies say on Sunday they made contact with Sanchez at his home in Lockport, and he resisted arrest but was eventually arrested.
He was found to be in possession of methamphetamine.
Sanchez is being charged with theft of a motor vehicle, obstruction of justice, possession of methamphetamine, and resisting an officer.
His bail is set at $46,500.
Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Fonseca on Thursday after they began investigating the theft of a boat and trailer that had been parked on Le Village Drive in Larose and was stolen overnight.
Deputies say that through the use of automated license plate recognition cameras, investigators were able to determine that a blue Ford F-150 registered to Fonseca was used in the theft.
According to LPSO, due to a previous arrest, Fonseca also has a GPS monitoring device, which helped deputies connect him to Larose during the time of the theft.
Fonseca was located at the boat launch in Larose, and he had one of the motors from the stolen boat in his possession.
Deputies say the other motor was located hidden in Lockport, and the boat and trailer were located at a Lockport residence.
Fonseca is being charged with theft of a motor vehicle and obstruction of justice.
His bail is set at $275,000.
This is an ongoing investigation.
