Hammond Police Chief Edwin Bergeron was inducted last week into the Louisiana Police Chiefs Hall of Fame as a member of its 2026 class.
Members of the Louisiana First Responders Christian Association select police chiefs and first responders from across the state for the honor.
Bergeron said the recognition is especially meaningful because it comes from a faith-based organization. In a statement, he said his faith has shaped his leadership and approach to serving the community.
“I am truly humbled and grateful to be recognized among those who have dedicated their lives to protecting and serving others,” Bergeron said. He thanked the association and said the honor also reflects the support and sacrifices of the people he has served with throughout his career.
Bergeron said he gives thanks to God for guidance and strength throughout his life and career.
