A former Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy and school resource officer, James Traylor, has pleaded guilty to indecent behavior with a juvenile and obstruction of justice.
Traylor was arrested last year, and the sheriff described him as “a monster.” Court records show he was sentenced to jail time and will be required to register as a sex offender.
Detectives said Traylor exchanged approximately 5,000 messages with a 14-year-old over two weeks, repeatedly asking her for nude photos.
WDSU Investigates uncovered that Traylor worked security details totaling more than 6,000 hours, many of which were at schools and playgrounds.
Traylor faces prison time and will have to register as a sex offender, records show.
