The Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fighting incident that happened inside the Orleans Justice Center on Wednesday.
OPSO says the incident happened around 4:55 p.m. and involved a physical altercation between at least three inmates, in which makeshift weapons were used.
Multiple inmates sustained significant injuries, including lacerations and puncture wounds.
Two inmates were transported to a local hospital for treatment and are currently in the ICU.
OPSO deputies recovered and seized a makeshift weapon following the altercations.
The incident remains under investigation.
