The U.S. Marshals and the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office are asking for the public’s help locating a man convicted of first-degree rape and sexual battery of a child under the age of 13.
Dominique L. Linton, 39, was convicted on April 6, 2024, in Edgard, Louisiana.
According to the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office, on Sept. 3, 2024, he was permitted to be released from police custody, but on June 16, 2026, the Louisiana Supreme Court reversed the ruling to release Linton from custody.
However, deputies say Linton failed to appear in court as ordered on Aug. 3, 2026, when he was to be remanded into police custody, pending sentencing.
The Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals Service have been searching for Linton since he failed to show up for court.
Linton’s last known address was in the 100 block of Sherman Walker Street, Garyville, Louisiana, and based on tips, he is believed to have fled Louisiana, possibly for Canada, to avoid arrest.
He is expected to receive a mandatory life sentence.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Dominique Linton is encouraged to call the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office TIPS line at (985) 359-TIPS, SJSO Lieutenant Ann Taylor at (985) 359-8950 or 9-1-1. Citizens can submit tips on the Sheriff’s Office website at https://stjohnsheriff.org/…/give-us-a-general-crime-tip/
