The St. Charles Catholic Comets (4-1) take down Riverside Academy (4-1) 33-23 Friday night in Reserve.
It was the first meeting between the two programs in 10 seasons.
St. Charles Catholic had four rushing touchdowns, two that went 50 or more yards.
The Comets led 3-0 after a 16-minute first quarter.
The scoring picked up in the second quarter.
Riverside quarterback Kenric ‘Boogie’ Johnson connected with receiver Cayden Francois for a 10-yard touchdown to give the Rebels the 7-3 lead.
St. Charles Catholic would take over from there, scoring 17 straight points to close out the half.
Running back Caleb Alexander got it started with a 39-yard touchdown run, giving the Comets the 10-7 lead.
SCC quarterback Landree Leblanc got in on the fun, finding the end zone on a 33-yard run to extend the lead to 17-7.
The Comets went into the half leading 20-7 after a 43-yard field goal.
After a field goal by Riverside halfway through the third quarter, St. Charles Catholic would add a couple long touchdown runs.
Leblanc took the snap and went over the right side and down the sideline for a 53-yard score to make it 27-10 SCC.
The next time the Comets got the ball, running back Evan Duffour would break away for a 62-yard touchdown to push the lead to 33-10.
Riverside added a couple touchdowns late in the fourth quarter to make it a closer game.
Next week St. Charles Catholic visits St. James, while Riverside hosts St. Martin’s Episcopal.
