The weekend forecast has forced Fried Chicken Festival organizers to postpone the 10th anniversary of the fest to next weekend.
While some vendors are ready and willing to pivot, others have already spent time and money preparing for this weekend and fear their efforts may go to waste.
“For the first time ever, I had my truck and trailer already loaded since Sunday, ready for the fest. I feel like we had our legs underneath us and this was going to be our best year to present ourselves,” said Marlon Williams, owner of Chicken’s Kitchen.
Williams and his team invested nearly $15,000 into festival preparation and can’t reschedule to next week due to a scheduling conflict.
They, along with other small businesses, are hoping the community brings business to their brick-and-mortar locations this weekend to make up for the loss.
