St. Tammany Parish President Mike Cooper is recovering after experiencing a mild stroke and undergoing a heart procedure.
Cooper wrote on Facebook that the stroke caused slight numbness in his left hand and arm.
He also said that just last week, doctors placed a stent during a heart procedure.
“After undertaking a stress test several weeks ago, I scheduled an angiogram to remove a detected blockage of a major artery of my heart. That procedure was performed last Tuesday, and a stent was successfully placed,” Cooper wrote.
Cooper says his schedule will allow time for recovery.
“At my doctors’ direction, my schedule will be noticeably lighter over the next few weeks. My time in the office, meetings and official events will be limited as I focus on getting healthy and making a full recovery,” Cooper said.
