The City of New Orleans is preparing to say goodbye to a beloved civil rights activist and culture bearer.
Jerome “Big Duck” Smith passed away at the age of 87 in August.
Smith is lying in repose at Gallier Hall Friday ahead of his funeral services.
Relatives and friends of the family are all invited to attend from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. to pay their respects.
Relatives and friends of the family are also invited to attend his Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, September 12, at 10 a.m. at the Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts.
Visitation will start at 8 a.m.
