The LSU Tigers have finalized their 2026 football roster and will not add former NFL players Dae’Quan Wright & Zxavian Harris.
Ross Dellenger with Yahoo Sports reports the Tigers added two players to the 105-person roster on Tuesday evening, eliminating the possibility of adding Wright and Harris this season.
Last week LSU submitted a 103-man roster, keeping two spots open in hopes they would be able to add Wright and Harris at some point in the season.
This move is a signal that LSU could be working to rebuild it’s relationship with the Southeastern Conference.
The SEC has scheduled a meeting Thursday to see if it has the right to expel LSU from one of the most prestigious sports leagues in the NCAA.
This action comes after the SEC filed a lawsuit last week against Louisiana State University, head football coach Lane Kiffin, and LSU’s Athletic Director Verge Ausberry over what the conference calls a deliberate recruitment of pro football athletes.
In an amendment to the filing on Tuesday, the SEC accuses LSU of a “lack of institutional control” for keeping open the possibility of adding pro players to the roster and speaking about it publicly, including Lane Kiffin’s halftime and postgame comments.
The SEC has scheduled a meeting Thursday to “decide whether to terminate Louisiana State University (“LSU”) as an SEC member.
The amendment gives the SEC authority to expel LSU from the league.
As part of the filing by the SEC today, it states the conference needs a two-thirds majority vote to terminate membership.
According to court documents, a court hearing is also set for Wednesday in Birmingham, Alabama, on the motion for preliminary injunction and motion for temporary restraining order.
Gabe Feldman, Director of Tulane’s Sports Law Program, weighed in on the amendment filing.
“This is more of the SEC showing its cards a little bit to LSU, and maybe puffing out its chest and saying that, if you don’t back down and take these players off of the field, or roster them or get them out of class, then we are going to use all of the weapons at our disposal,” he said.
