Two people who were hurt in a triple shooting in Loranger, now have warrants out for their arrest, according to Tangipahoa Sheriff’s Office.
Eighteen-year-old Jamarcus Johnson and fifty-year-old Veronica Johnson are wanted for aggravated assault. Jamarcus Johnson is also wanted on unrelated charges of aggravated assault and battery of a dating partner.
The triple shooting happened in May in Loranger and is still under investigation.
Deputies say both Johnsons were identified as coming to the neighborhood with the gun used in the shooting. But, the person who fired the gun will not face charges because deputies say, they acted in self-defense.
According to TPSO, they responded to a call in the neighborhood on North St. Charles Avenue just after 10 p.m. for multiple reports of shots fired.
When they arrived at the location, they didn’t find any victims but did find evidence of multiple shots having been fired at that location.
Deputies learned that two groups got into a verbal dispute in the neighborhood, and residents emerged from their homes to try to intervene and get the groups to leave.
That eventually turned into an exchange of gunfire, and the circumstances leading up to that are still under investigation.
Three people were transported to a local hospital by private vehicle before deputies arrived.
A 50-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy remain hospitalized in stable condition. Deputies confirm to WDSU that the Johnsons were injured in the shooting. A 33-year-old woman was released with a graze wound.
The 50-year-old woman was a relative of one of the members of the feuding groups. It is undetermined whether the other two were part of the feuding groups or were residents.
