The mother of the Metairie man who’s a suspected steroid producer and dealer was arrested.
Dana Caruso, 75, was arrested but bonded out on Friday.
She was being charged with attempted distribution of a Schedule III controlled substance, creation of a clandestine laboratory, and possession with intent to distribute a Schedule III controlled substance, manufacturing a Schedule III controlled substance, use of a firearm during commission of a crime of violence or drug offense and attempted obstruction of justice.
Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joe Lopinto announced the arrest of Anthony J. Caruso, a suspected steroid producer and dealer, on Wednesday.
His bond was set at $311,000.
Lopinto said deputies seized more than a million dollars’ worth of drugs from Caruso’s home.
According to Lopinto, Caruso is accused of making drugs in his house, repackaging them and selling them from his home at 3904 Tolmas Drive.
Lopinto described the home “like a scene from ‘Breaking Bad.'”
According to Lopinto, deputies seized 3,780 vials of anabolic steroids from the home as well as an additional 1,600 vials of suspected steroids.
Also seized were 10 kilograms of steroid powder, 38,000 doses of oral anabolic compounds, 20 grams of ketamine, 28 grams of MDMA, three firearms and 3D-printed guns.
Caruso was arrested Monday and is facing charges of resisting an officer by force, felon in possession of a firearm, creation of a clandestine laboratory, possession with intent to distribute Schedule III CDS, possession of Schedule III drugs, possession of Schedule I drugs, possession of a firearm with CDS and possession of an unregistered weapon.
According to Lopinto, Caruso has a criminal history that included possession of drugs, guns, and probation violations.
Lopinto believes other agencies will get involved in the investigation.
“It was a nice neighborhood; you never know what is happening,” Lopinto said. “I couldn’t think of anything in my career like this.”
