Sarah Post with the Krewe of Dolly said the group is relying on one another as members mourn Dolly Parton’s death and organize events celebrating her legacy.
“We were in complete shock,” Post said. “We all wanted to rally and honor Dolly.”
Members recently marched in the Mid-Summer Mardi Gras parade for the first time. Post said the event was emotional but uplifting.
The Krewe of Dolly is organizing a second line through the French Quarter on Saturday, Sept. 5, followed by an after-party at Blue Nile.
Post credited the organization’s leadership with bringing the event together quickly.
“We have a really strong board of eight board members, so we’ve really relied on a lot of each other’s support during this time,” she said.
“Even if you can’t attend on Saturday, you can still support Dolly by going to our website and donating to Imagination Library,” Post said.
She said the group remains committed to preserving Parton’s charitable legacy.
“We love her, and we want to keep on doing her work and honoring her legacy,” Post said.
