From the Saints Preseason opener game to Covington White Linen Night, here’s what you can do this weekend.
Saints Preseason Game:
The New Orleans Saints kick off the preseason on Saturday against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The game will be held in the Superdome at 3 p.m.
Tickets are still available for the game on the Caesars Superdome website.
Covington White Linen Night:
The 11th annual Covington White Linen for Public Art is set for Saturday, Aug. 15, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Downtown Covington will close part of its Cultural Arts District to vehicle traffic this weekend as artists, restaurants, shops and musicians take over the streets for an annual end-of-summer event.
Visitors are encouraged to wear white and walk through downtown while visiting local galleries, shops, restaurants and bars. Businesses will stay open late, with special attractions, beverages, local vendors, art demonstrations and live music planned throughout the evening.
The event generally stretches along Boston Street from Lee Lane to Columbia Street. Lee Lane and Columbia Street will close to vehicle traffic during the event, according to organizers.
Organizers describe Covington White Linen as a showcase for Northshore artists and businesses. The event follows the tradition of other white linen celebrations in the region, with visitors encouraged to wear white summer attire while they shop, eat, and explore downtown.
The event is free to the public.
COOLinary:
New Orleans restaurants are welcoming back a summer tradition, COOLinary, in hopes of a boost in sales.
According to New Orleans and Company, this year, more than 100 restaurants will participate, as well as bars offering specialty drinks and prices.
COOLinary menus offer two-course lunches at participating restaurants for $28 or less and some three-course dinners for $58 or less. The goal is to increase sales for local eateries during the slower months.
Participating restaurants and bars are also offering either 2 drinks and 2 bites at $35 or less or their own custom cocktail creation.
