A firetruck crashed into a hydrant and triggered gushing water and a water outage in Old Metairie.
Jefferson Parish Councilman Scott Walker posted on Facebook, referencing the incident at Pink St. and Focis St.
Walker says nearby businesses are experiencing a water outage. He adds that water pressure is also affected.
Several restaurants near the Oak Ridge Place Shopping Center had to close early for the day.
“It’s unfortunate, but it’s one of those things that happens,” said Walker, “you hate to see it happen, but it does happen. And, like I said, small businesses can adapt to a lot of things in our community. It’s unfortunate they’ve had to adapt to so much over the years. But, they’ve they’ve seen this type of thing before.”
Jefferson Parish officials tell us repairs are expected to take 4-5 hours.
