Louisiana State Police are investigating a deadly crash in Marrero on Friday night.
Police say around 11:30 p.m., they began investigating the crash on Louisiana Highway 45 (Barataria Boulevard) near College Parkway in Jefferson Parish.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Joleen Walls, 44, of Marrero was driving south of LA 45 approaching College Parkway.
For reasons still under investigation, the car traveled off the right side of the roadway into a drainage ditch, where it struck a culvert and utility pole before overturning.
LSP said Walls was unrestrained and sustained fatal injuries.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say impairment and speed are suspected contributing factors in the crash and say routine toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted for analysis.
This is an ongoing investigation.
