Four candidates have qualified to be on the November 3 ballot for St. Tammany Sheriff.
This comes after former St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Randy Smith resigned in June after pleading guilty to a second-degree battery and misdemeanor charge.
Smith was accused of attacking a man at a Madisonville steakhouse. He was given two years plus 90 days for the misdemeanor and will be on probation and required to complete a specialty program.
The four candidates include retired Louisiana State Police Col. Robert Hodges, Former U.S. Marshal Scott Illing, retired St. Tammany deputy David Maki and Interim Chief of Police for Slidell Daniel Seuzeneau.
St. Tammany residents will decide the race on the Nov. 3 ballot.
