WDSU’s Fletcher and Travers Mackel are continuing their family tradition by hosting New Orleans’ premier amateur golf championship.
The tournament, called ‘The Mackel,’honors their father, Frank Mackel, and helps raise scholarship money for children of first responders.
Friday, a Celebrity Scramble kicked off the event, with familiar faces like WDSU’s Darryl Forges, Raven Richard, and NFL Hall of Fame players Ed Reed and Ricky Jackson.
Proceeds with go to a scholarship fund for children of LCMC health workers.
