Gretna police arrested two men July 27 in connection with the death of a pregnant woman who died from a drug overdose at a motel.
Jordan Delapp, 29, died June 24. Police said she was 29 weeks pregnant at the time.
A toxicology report later determined Delapp died from an accidental overdose involving fentanyl and methamphetamine.
Following the report, detectives focused their investigation on how Delapp obtained the drugs. That led them to two suspects: Ricky Ripp, 44, of Gretna, and Greg Trahan, 51, of Marrero.
Police said Ripp acknowledged obtaining methamphetamine and giving drugs to Delapp. Investigators also said Ripp admitted he sometimes injected her with narcotics.
As detectives traced the source of the drugs, they identified Trahan as the person accused of supplying them to the couple, according to police.
On July 27, Gretna police arrested Ripp and Trahan. Each man faces charges of second-degree murder, second-degree feticide and fentanyl distribution.
A 2-year-old child was inside the motel room when the overdose occurred. Police said the child was not hurt and was later released to relatives.
Court records show a judge set Ripp’s bond at $400,000 for second-degree murder. His bond was set at $100,000 for second-degree feticide and $100,000 for fentanyl distribution.
Ripp also faces a cruelty to a juvenile charge with a $25,000 bond. Records list a $1,000 bond for a municipal or traffic attachment and no bond on a fugitive charge.
Trahan’s bond was set at $400,000 for second-degree murder, $100,000 for second-degree feticide and $100,000 for fentanyl distribution.
Court records also list four municipal or traffic attachments for Trahan with bonds totaling $9,600.
