Entergy New Orleans will continue with planned power outages this week despite the extreme heat.
The work is part of the utility’s project of upgrading power poles.
The company said the upgrades are intended to improve reliability of it’s power infrastructure.
There are outages planned in several areas across the city this week as most of the area will have temperatures that feel like its in the triple digits.
Entergy said that work requiring planned outages cannot proceed when the temperature exceeds 99 degrees or the heat index reaches 105.
Crews will shift work to early morning or evening hours to avoid an outage during peak temperatures, according to Entergy.

“Entergy New Orleans closely monitors the daily forecast and weather when scheduling planned outages, and we make every effort to limit the impact on our customers.
“Work requiring planned outages cannot proceed when the temperature is above 99 degrees or the heat index reaches 105. In these cases, Entergy crews will shift work to early morning or evening hours to avoid an outage during peak temperatures.”
