The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory today from 11 A.M. until 8 P.M. Temperatures today will reach 93-97 degrees, feeling up to 110 degrees.
People should avoid prolonged exposure to the sun.
An Extreme Heat Watch is in effect Tuesday morning to the evening as highs reach 93-99 degrees, feeling up to 115 degrees at times. This watch is for areas immediately surround Lake Pontchartrain.
Tuesday afternoon in these locations, any outdoor activity in the afternoon should be very limited, and confined to very short periods of time. Direct sunlight should also be avoided, and constant hydration is also recommended.
The ridge of high pressure helping to bring us the heat through midweek should begin to break down by the end of the week, bringing slightly cooler afternoons.
