The New Orleans FBI office responded to a suspicious item at its office on the lakefront Thursday.
According to the FBI, a person arrived with a suspicious object at the FBI New Orleans Headquarters.
The person was taken into custody without incident and the object was “rendered safe.”
According to the FBI, the NOPD is handling the investigation.
There is no threat to the public at this time.
NOPD sent a statement that reads in part:
“At approximately 10:00 a.m., a person who appeared to be experiencing a mental health crisis and was acting erratically arrived at the FBI New Orleans Headquarters carrying electrical wires. The wires were quickly assessed and determined to be safe. The individual was taken into custody by the Mobile Crisis Unit and transported to a local hospital for a psychiatric evaluation. No further information.”
