Summer lovers, your season is here! Hot, dry conditions incoming into the weekend.
Rain coverage will be sparse. Rain chances will be lower than normal in the 10% range through Sunday. A few spotty storms possible late weekend into early next week.
In the tropics: Two areas that the National Hurricane Center is monitoring.
First, an area of disturbed weather is expected to develop in the Northeast Gulf tis weekend.
The takeaway: this setup is marginal, with land interaction the big limiting factor. If it can spin over water long enough, there’s a shot at a depression or Tropical Storm Bertha. NHC has increased the odds of development to 20% over the next 7 days.
Most likely path: a front picks it up next week and steers it across Florida toward the Southeast. Less likely scenario — but worth watching — is the system getting trapped in the northern Gulf.
Bottom line: it’s worth watching, but it’s nothing of any concern to the central Gulf Coast at this time.
Second, an area of disturbed weather with a tropical wave off the coast of Africa. 10% chance of development over the next 7 days. Likely to encounter hostile conditions down the road. No imminent concerns.
