Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport is moving forward with plans to redevelop its former passenger terminal, but demolition has not started.
Airport officials are accepting public bids for the demolition of the former Concourses A and B. Responses are due July 23.
The airport tentatively expects demolition to begin during the third quarter of 2026. Officials said specific dates and project costs will be determined after a demolition contract is awarded.
Jefferson Parish councilmember Arita Bohannan shared these photos on social media.
The project will mark the first phase of redevelopment at the property, now called the airport’s South Campus.
Concourses A and B once served passengers at the airport’s former south terminal. The terminal has remained largely vacant since the current terminal opened in 2019.
The airport’s long-term vision for the site includes aircraft maintenance facilities, expanded air cargo operations and new corporate and general aviation hangars.
Plans also call for space that could support aviation-related businesses and job creation.
The historic Parabola building is expected to remain as part of the South Campus redevelopment. The structure is one of the airport’s most recognizable landmarks.
Airport officials say redeveloping the former terminal property will put the site back into productive use while supporting future aviation growth and economic development.
