St. Charles Parish Public Schools is reminding parents that free breakfast and lunch meals are no longer available for students.
This is due to the district’s federal Community Eligibility Provision qualification period coming to an end.
The school district says that due to the pandemic, federal funding was provided to school systems throughout the nation to provide free meals for two years (2020-2022).
SCPPS then qualified for four years (2022-2026) due to impacts from Hurricane Ida.
Here’s what families should know:
- SCPPS is returning to the traditional Free and Reduced Meal Application process.
- Free and Reduced Meal Applications are now available at https://www.myschoolapps.com/.
- All meal payments must be made prior to receiving meals.
- Families can pay online through https://www.myschoolbucks.com or at their child’s school.
For more information or questions, contact the Child Nutrition Department at 985-785-3179 if you have any questions.
