Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill held a news conference Wednesday morning to address a crackdown effort on fraud across the state.
Murrill announced the arrest of more than 21 individuals across the state as part of a major Medicaid fraud operation.
The suspects, who are from various locations across Louisiana, including Hammond, are tied to allegations of false billing, false public records, and abuse involving vulnerable individuals, according to state leaders.
The arrests were made by the Louisiana Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, which has recently been elevated to a standalone division.
