Longtime Southern University Baseball Head Coach Roger Cador has died at age 74.
“Coach Roger Cador was far more than a baseball coach — he was a visionary, a mentor, a leader and a true pillar of the Jaguar Nation,” said Roman Banks, athletics director.
Cador spent 33 seasons with the Southern Jaguars with an overall record of 913-597-1.
He led the Jaguars to two HBCU National Championships and 14 SWAC Championships.
He took over the Southern Baseball program in 1984 and retired in 2017.
“His impact on Southern University and HBCU baseball is immeasurable. For more than three decades, he built a championship culture, developed generations of student-athletes, and inspired countless lives both on and off the field,” said Banks.
Cador was inducted into the American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in January of 2022.
