The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is investigating a deadly boating incident in Terrebonne Parish.
The incident happened around 3:15 p.m. on June 27 in Rice Bayou.
According to Wildlife and Fisheries agents, Donald P. Webre, 73, of Houma, died after his boat moored alongside a barge.
Agents were told Webre was tending to a stationary butterfly net at the time of the incident.
Webre’s body was found in the water and was turned over to the coroner’s office to determine his exact cause of death.
Agents say it is unknown at this time what caused Webre to enter the water. His body was found without a personal flotation device.
