A Nevada man has been arrested for allegedly victimizing an Acadiana child online.
Attorney General Liz Murrill’s Louisiana Bureau of Investigation says Christian Jonathan Carnes, 22, of Las Vegas, Nevada, was arrested and charged with three counts of indecent behavior, criminal assistance to suicide, two counts of computer-aided solicitation of a minor, and extortion.
The LBI says the child did not commit suicide but was allegedly being enticed to do so by Carnes.
On May 20, Carnes was arrested and booked into the Clark County Detention Center in Nevada on the warrant, and he was transported to Lafayette Parish on June 11.
According to the LBI, this was a joint investigation also involving Homeland Security Investigations, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, and the Air Force Office of Special Investigations.
Carnes is believed to have victims throughout the country.
A bond has not been set at this time. No other information has been provided at this time.
This is an ongoing investigation.
