It’s the second week of hurricane season, and the National Hurricane Center is now monitoring the first tropical disturbance of the season.
An area of disturbed weather in the Bay of Campeche/Southern Gulf now has a low, 10% probability of tropical development over the next 7 days. The first name is Arthur.
This system remains broad, disorganized. And, fortunately, wind shear looks to remain unfavorable for any quick organization of this system.
A broad low may form by Friday-Saturday, but organization into a tropical depression or tropical storm development appears unlikely.
However, the tropical moisture from this system may uptick rain chances along the northwest Gulf Coast by early next week as it gets entangled with an approaching frontal boundary.
This could spell trouble for heavy rain for someone next week 6/15-6/18.
Details still very hazy, but something to monitor by Monday-Thursday next week as heavy downpours could return to the forecast.
