Nearly 100 restaurants in the New Orleans area are participating in the annual Restaurant Week promotion from June 8-14.
The week-long deal supports the hospitality industry during the slow summer season. The promotion offers pri fixe menus ranging from $25 to under $60, with restaurants ranging from casual to high-end eateries.
Chef Edgar Caro at Baru says he’s relying on restaurant week more than ever. Caro says in addition to slower sales, the cost of food and alcohol has increased by 30% since January. He says Restaurant Week welcomes more foot traffic that helps pay for labor costs during the slow summer months.
“We are the ones who support local residents with jobs, local producers for our ingredients. Overall, this is a way of keeping our community together and helping local restaurants survive the summer days,” Caro said.
