WDSU First Warning Weather has a tool others in New Orleans don’t, and it is an extremely valuable tool that helps us forecast storms and keep your family safe.
The WDSU First Warning Live Radar is located at our transmitter site in Chalmette.
The radar has a range of 250 miles.
Other stations access the National Weather Service radar out of Hammond.
The WDSU site is 45 miles to the south and to the east, allowing WDSU to warn you of a storm much earlier than the National Weather Service site in Hammond.
This is one of many tools the WDSU First Warning Weather team uses to provide you timely and accurate forecasts during hurricane season, and year-round.
