New Orleans police have arrested a man in connection with Sunday’s deadly shooting in Hollygrove.
Police say Daniel Victor Romero, 20, was identified as the perpetrator of the deadly shooting that happened on Sunday in the 9000 block of Peach Street.
Police obtained an arrest warrant, and shortly before 4 p.m. on Monday, Romero was arrested at an address in New Orleans East.
He is being charged with second-degree murder.
The shooting happened shortly before 3:35 p.m. on Sunday at the intersection of Hollygrove Street and Peach Street.
New Orleans police found an 18-year-old girl suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, and she was pronounced dead on the scene by EMS.
Family members identified the victim as Ra’Mya Rene Silvan, 18.
Silvan was a 2026 graduate of Warren Easton High School who was preparing to begin a new chapter at Loyola University New Orleans in the fall.
