Saturday morning, runners and walkers gathered at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church for the Greek Festival 5K, kicking off a day of community events despite rainy weather.
Participants in the race received early access and tickets to the Greek Festival, which continued later in the day.
During the afternoon, volunteers noted that turnout was lower than in previous years, but attendees remained undeterred.
“We have been talking about coming for like, a couple months now. And then we were like, we’re not gonna let the rain stop it,” said Gabi Parish, first-time attendee. “So, we decided to come anyway.”
Saturday’s programming stayed on schedule, featuring live music, dance performances, and an array of Greek food and beverages, including baklava, hummus and wine.
Attendees were also able to tour the historic church, which was the first established Greek Orthodox church in the United States.
Sunday will conclude the festival.
