Heads up into Memorial Weekend!
Growing risk for heavy rain as a turbulent setup meanders across the Deep South & western Gulf Coast over the next week to 10 days. Hot spots of 6-12+” of rain likely.
The rain will come in waves, and there will be breaks; but in areas where repeated rounds of storms occur, expect flash flood potential. We desperately need the rain to dent the drought, but too much of a good thing could bring flash flooding.
For southeast Louisiana, there will be a sharp divide between those that see multiple rounds of rain and those that miss out. Expect to dodge daily downpours continuing into Memorial Day weekend.
Highest rainfall amounts along and north of I/10. Lower amounts near the coast. Each day will not be a complete washout, but many areas likely see 1-3” of rain with hot spots of 3-6+ likely, especially near Baton Rouge. Stay tuned.
