The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office has recovered the body believed to be of a missing person.
Deputies believe the body to be that of Dustin Sharp, 34, of Hammond, based on matching physical features, including tattoos.
TPSO says a team of workers discovered the body along the Natalbany Creek north of Highway 22 in the Pumpkin Center area, about a mile from where his bike was found.
Sharp was reported missing on Friday, May 15, by relatives who say he disappeared into the woods on Monday, May 10, after learning upsetting news.
The coroner’s office will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
TPSO says while the work is underway, detectives are continuing to encourage the public to share any information they may have regarding Sharp’s whereabouts between his disappearance and Monday’s discovery.
