The St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office is celebrating the accomplishments of its K-9 officer, who is also celebrating his fourth birthday.
According to the sheriff’s office, K-9 Pit turned four Friday.
Since joining the KO division in 2023, Pit has helped with traffic stops, search warrants, and school searches, helping to remove dangerous drugs from the community.
In 2026, Pit is credited with confiscating 10 pounds of meth, four pounds of fentanyl, 195 grams of black tar heroin, 350 grams of heroin, 286 grams of MDMA (Ecstasy), 274 grams of cocaine and 3 pounds of marijuana, according to the sheriff’s office.
“Pit has become an important part of our Special Investigations Division and has done an outstanding job alongside Agent Clark,” Sheriff James Pohlmann said. “We appreciate all of the hard work and dedication they show every day.”
