The hacking group named ShinyHunters has claimed responsibility for a hacking attack on the company Instructure, causing chaos as students study for final exams.
Canvas, made by Instructure, is a web-based learning management system used by universities and schools to manage grades, course notes, assignments, lecture videos and more.
Students, many of whom are in the midst of studying for final exams, tried to log in to the online portal only to be notified that Canvas is currently undergoing scheduled maintenance.
Many universities in our area, including Loyola, Tulane, Southeastern and Nicholls, all use the Canvas platform.
We have reached out to these universities and are awaiting a response regarding how they are affected.
