Six-time PGA Tour winner Tony Finau will team with rising young golfer Max Greyserman in the 2026 Zurich Classic of New Orleans, announced Steve Worthy, CEO of the Fore!Kids Foundation, producer of the tournament.
“Tony is one of the most popular players on the Tour and has made three Presidents Cup and two Ryder Cup teams,” said Worthy. “His partner Max Greyserman finished tied for fourth in the 2024 Zurich Classic in his rookie year, so he has had some success with team golf,” he added.
Finau went on a hot streak in 2022-23, winning four tournaments in less than two years. In 2021-22, he posted two wins, two seconds and seven top-10s. The next season, he scored another two wins, five top-10s and 13 top-25 finishes in only 24 events.
In addition to his six wins, he has lost three playoffs and has posted 35 top-five finishes since he earned his PGA Tour card in 2014.
He broke through for his first PGA Tour victory at the 2016 Puerto Rico Open. This season his best finish was a tie for 11th in the Farmers Insurance Open. In the Zurich Classic, his best result was a tie for sixth in 2018, playing with Daniel Summerhays.
In three years of President Cup play, his record of 5-4-3 ranks him 24th on the all-time U.S. Team list. In his two Ryder Cup competitions, he has posted a record of 3-3.
Born in Salt Lake City of Samoan and Tongan descent, his first sport was fire-knife dancing, a Samoan ritual. He later helped his high school basketball team reach the state tournament his junior and senior seasons.
At the same time, he also excelled at golf. He won the Junior World Golf Championship in 2002 at the age of 13. In high school, he became a two-time medalist in the Utah state high school championship and a member of the 2006 state championship team. He earned first-team all-state selection four times in high school. As he finished high school, he turned down college basketball scholarship offers and concentrated on golf, turning professional at age 17.
Finau’s Zurich Classic partner Max Greyserman is still seeking his first win, after losing a playoff for the Rocket Mortgage Classic last year. This year he has posted two top-25 finishes, with a tie for 24th in the Genesis Invitational and a tie for 18th in the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard.
Last year he posted 10 top-25 and three top-10 finishes to qualify for the FedExCup playoffs for the second time since earning his Tour card.
In his rookie season in 2024, he also made the FedExCup playoffs, recording six top-10 finishes, including back-to-back solo-second finishes at the 3M Open and Wyndham Championship.
He tied for fourth in the 2024 Zurich Classic, teamed with Nico Echavarria. It was Greyserman’s first career top-five on the PGA TOUR.
As an amateur, he played four seasons at Duke University. During college, he won the 2015 New Jersey State Golf Association Amateur Championship, as well as the 2014 New Jersey State Golf Association Open Championship.
