For the 18th year, pit masters fired up their grills for Hogs for the Cause, a two-day fundraising competition event, all to support families in need.
This year features more than 90 teams — local and regional — vying to be the next grand champion. All proceeds go to families battling pediatric brain cancer, among other severe illnesses.
“We’ve grown, we’ve changed, we’ve moved locations, but our commitment to helping families in need has never changed,” said Rene Louapre, co-founder of Hogs for the Cause.
The friendly-competition cook-off will take place Saturday, April 11, with doors opening at 11 a.m. at the Lakefront.
Friday kicked off the event as Bacon and Wings Night, featuring live music on three stages.
