A Chalmette woman has been arrested and accused of defrauding the Medicaid program of more than $119,000.
Lindsi Melerine, 39, of Chalmette, was arrested by the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office after the Louisiana Department of Health reported she had underreported her income for the purposes of receiving Medicaid benefits.
During this investigation, LBI agents learned that in the period between July 2021 and November 2025, Melerine provided false information to LDH by concealing her marriage and household income.
According to a statement issued by the attorney general, Melerine defrauded the Medicaid program of more than $119,000.
Melerine was arrested on Thursday and is facing charges of government benefits fraud and filing false public records.
Melerine was booked without incident at the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
Her bond information is not known.
