Parents in St. James Parish are being asked to talk to their kids about the dangers of airsoft guns.
According to Sheriff Claude J. Louis Jr., some airsoft guns look like real firearms, and many people would not be able to tell the difference.
“Deputies and citizens would not be able to tell the difference when one is pointed at them, and they would be faced with a split-second decision. They are not toys and can lead to serious injury or even death.”
The sheriff said if you threaten or shoot someone with an airsoft gun, you will be criminally charged.
